Body Lift

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SERVE WASHINGTON, DC

Body LiftA body lift is like a full-body makeover for your midsection. It’s a comprehensive procedure that can sculpt your waistline, thighs, back, and buttocks by removing excess skin and fat, and tightening your muscles. Dr. Olding will work with you to determine which body lift technique is best for you.

Benefits of a Body Lift

A body lift can offer several benefits, including improved body contours and smoother, firmer skin. The procedure can enhance the results of a tummy tuck, liposuction, or abdominoplasty by addressing excess skin that these procedures may not fully resolve. Skin tightening during the body lift can also lead to better-fitting clothes and increased comfort, boosting overall self-confidence.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Body Lift?

A body lift is ideal for individuals who have undergone significant weight loss, either through lifestyle changes or weight loss surgery, and are left with loose, sagging skin. It is also suited for those seeking body contouring to enhance the shape of the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. A good candidate should be in overall good health, maintain a stable weight, and have realistic expectations about the procedure’s results.

The Body Lift Procedure

Dr. Olding will choose the body lift technique that suits you best. After the areas that require treatment are chosen, the procedure will begin with the administration of either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation to help you feel comfortable during the surgical process.

Dr. Olding will then proceed by making an incision through which the underlying fat is removed and tissues are lifted. One of the most popular techniques is the bikini-patterned incision, which tightens the tissues of various areas of the lower body, such as the buttock, thigh, groin, waist, and abdomen. Some surgical body lifts may also require you to undergo liposuction surgery, which results in a much-improved contour.

Once the corrections are made, the incisions are closed using deep sutures inside the underlying tissues, clips, tapes, and/or skin adhesives. While the final results of a body lift surgery can take up to a few months to appear, some changes are immediately visible after the successful completion of the procedure.

What to Expect During Recovery

The body lift is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, although it may require one overnight stay in the hospital. Patients generally return to work and strenuous activity within a month to six weeks. Scars fade within three months to two years. Results vary by age and weight but are usually dramatic.

Body Lift Results

Body lifts are long-lasting when paired with a healthy lifestyle. Patients often see improvement in the appearance of their lower body, with smoother skin and more defined contours. As with any body contouring procedure, maintaining a stable weight is essential to preserve the outcome.

Body Lift Cost

The cost of a body lift varies depending on the extent of the surgery and additional procedures like liposuction or tummy tuck. You can contact or visit us at The DC Cosmetic Surgery Center for a personalized consultation and detailed pricing.

His hands and surgical skills are legendary

I have known Dr. Olding for over 20 years. He has worked on many close to me and myself. He is the most honest, ethical plastic surgeon I know. He doesn’t sugar-coat or tell Ugly Betty she will look like a movie star after he is done and sucks 100 lbs out of her. I refer to him frequently and would highly suggest anyone considering cosmetic surgery should at least get an opinion from him because HE WILL BE HONEST. His hands and surgical skills are legendary.

Patients may experience temporary swelling, soreness, bruising, or numbness. Potential complications include blood clots to the lungs, asymmetry, bleeding, infection, fluid retention, excessive scarring, or necrosis of the skin around the belly button, and blood clots, which may break loose and result in a pulmonary embolism.

During the recovery phase, bandages or dressings are applied to promote the healing of the incisions. Excess blood is drained through thin and small tubes that are placed temporarily under the skin. We’ll prescribed medication in order to address any discomfort you may experience after the surgery. To promote efficient healing, you should only engage in light activities. Short walks are also recommended to keep up the blood flow to all the incision sites. Strenuous physical activities, however, should be avoided.
