Chin Augmentation

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SERVE WASHINGTON, DC

Chin AugmentationA chin augmentation, chin enhancement surgery or genioplasty improves the basic shape and balance of the face using carefully shaped implants to fortify a weak or receding chin. The implant is placed directly against your existing chin bone to enlarge and shape the chin, improving the contours of your chin, neck and jawline, and making the face more “harmonious.”

Although silicone implants (Silastic®) used to be utilized, they caused problems with “warping” and erosion into the bone. Today, Dr. Olding uses a high-density polyethylene fabricated material (MEDPOR) that is customized for each patient. Because they are porous, your own tissue grows into them. Most patients are unable to feel them, and they don’t migrate or change shape with time.

The chin augmentation procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis or in combination with other facial procedures. Patients generally return to work within a week, with a small amount of residual swelling for a month. Results are permanent.

His hands and surgical skills are legendary

I have known Dr. Olding for over 20 years. He has worked on many close to me and myself. He is the most honest, ethical plastic surgeon I know. He doesn’t sugar-coat or tell Ugly Betty she will look like a movie star after he is done and sucks 100 lbs out of her. I refer to him frequently and would highly suggest anyone considering cosmetic surgery should at least get an opinion from him because HE WILL BE HONEST. His hands and surgical skills are legendary.

Potential complications of a chin augmentation include asymmetrical placement of the implant, infection, or nerve damage.
