BODY LIFT

(belt lipectomy)

Procedure:

  • Several Types of Procedures
  • Also known as "belt" lipectomy, lower body lift or circumfrential abdominoplasty.
  • Incorporates standard abdominoplasty but continues the excision around the entire waist area front and back.

In/Outpatient:

Inpatient.

Side Effects:

Swelling, soreness, bruising, & numbness.

Risks:

  • Pulmonary embolisms (blood clot to lungs)
  • Asymmetry
  • Infection
  • Hematoma (bleeding collection)
  • Seroma (fluid collection)
  • Excessive Scarring
  • Umbilical skin necrosis

Recovery:

  • Back to work: 4 - 6 weeks.
  • More strenuous activity: 4 - 6 weeks.
  • Fading and flattening of scars: 3 months - 2 years.

Results:

Depends on age and weight gain, but results are usually dramatic.
