SCULPTRA

(injectable poly-L-lactic acid)

Procedure:

  • Approved by the FDA for facial lipodystrophy (HIV wasting).
  • Used as "off-label" cosmetic filler.
  • Provides a gradual increase in volume of the area injected.
In/Outpatient:

Outpatient.
Side Effects:

Temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, pain and/or redness.
Risks:

  • Subcutaneous Bumps (Bumps beneath the skin).
  • Allergic Reaction (Rare).
Recovery:

Takes several days for swelling to completely resolve.

Results:

  • Temporary.
  • Repeat treatments every 2 years.
